Capurganá and Sapzurro
Capurgana, one of Colombia's hidden paradises
One of the regions where you can find a lot of untouched natural beauty is the department of Chocó, a region with one of the highest biodiversity in the world. This region has a Pacific and Atlantic coastline with jungle in between and small villages rarely visited by tourists. One of Colombia’s hidden paradises we want to present here are the villages of Capurganá and Sapzurro, both situated on the Atlantic coast of Chocó just next to the border to Panamá. Only a few years ago this place couldn’t even be found on a map, now it can be reached directly by small planes from Medellin or by boat from Turbo.
Capurganá used to be home to the Cuna Indians which later settled to the region of Kuna Yala in Panamá. Now, most locals of Capurganá and Sapzurro are settlers from Cartagena.
